Hugh McCall PhD

Research Associate

Hugh has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of British Columbia. He has since completed a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, both at the University of Regina under the supervision of Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos. For his master’s thesis, Hugh conducted a meta-analysis of self-guided internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy (ICBT) interventions for depression and anxiety and a meta-regression to determine whether persuasive design elements predict treatment efficacy. For his doctoral dissertation, Hugh conducted a randomized trial examining the impact of discussion forums on outcomes in self-guided ICBT for public safety personnel. Hugh’s primary research interests include the use of ICBT for treating depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress among public safety personnel and the role of persuasive design in ICBT.
